This simulation illustrates the chemical activities that occur within a landfill during the three phases of degradation (aerobic, anaerobic, and methanogenic).

Two versions of this simulation are available: an interactive Macromedia Flash version (enhanced with additional graphics and animations; requires the Macromedia Flash Player) and a non-interactive, accessible HTML version.  Both versions contain the same content.
