What it Means | How it Works

What It Means

Macromedia Director is a graphic, video, and animation program that is used to create multimedia "Shockwave" files for the Web and CD-ROM. Unfortunately, Macromedia Shockwave can pose problems for students who use Link opens in new window.screen readers or the keyboard to navigate.

How It Works

  1. Provide two formats—a Shockwave version and an accessible HTML version. Follow the accessibility guidelines for images, Web pages, and audio and video to make sure any HTML version you create is completely accessible.

  2. Try to make your Shockwave file keyboard-accessible so people that who cannot use a mouse are able to navigate and close the file.
