Art Initiatives
UMUC’s dedication to the arts is measured by our collection of works by artists from Maryland and Asia. Our commitment to the arts remains strong, and your financial contribution will help with the continued growth of our collection, preservation and exhibits. Learn more about UMUC arts and events.
Art Programs
The Arts Program plays an increasingly central role in the academic life of the university, from the research and study uses of the works of art in the collections, to the teaching implications of the exhibitions. To this end, and for nearly three decades, UMUC has been dedicated to cultivating and developing an impressive permanent art collection. With a collection emphasis on its Maryland Artists Collection and the Asian Collection, these collections attract visitors from around the world to experience one of the largest collections of art by Maryland artists and to see up close the artistic wonders from the Far East. Contributions to the Arts Program are used to help preserve, acquire, present, restore and expand the extraordinary art collections at UMUC.
