A Student's Perspective

Dear Member of the UMUC Family,

Thank you for all that you do for UMUC students on a daily basis. By investing your time and talents, you are helping to enhance the quality and prestige of our university, and your work gives UMUC students like me the opportunity to achieve academic success. UMUC assists its students not only through the dedication of faculty and staff, but also by offering a variety of scholarships and financial aid programs, which I would like to encourage you to support through this year’s Faculty and Staff Campaign.

Throughout my studies at UMUC, I have been encouraged by faculty and staff who believed in me and pushed me to believe in myself. I hope to do the same for others in pursuing my degree, by setting an example that says “You can do it!”

I recognize that without the scholarship I received and the work that you do day in and day out, I would not be preparing to graduate this May. Many students in my same situation, with families, jobs and so many other responsibilities, rely on scholarship support to realize their own educational dreams. I hope you will review the campaign information outlining the various ways you can contribute to the campaign and to the future success of UMUC.

You can designate your gift to a specific scholarship, fund or program, or to the area of greatest need. UMUC is what it is today because of your dedication and involvement. Your charitable contribution reflects your further commitment to our university and I sincerely thank you. If you have any questions about the campaign or about your tax-deductible contribution, I encourage you to call Michael Richmond in Institutional Advancement at 240-684-5129.

Thank you in advance for your contribution and for being a part of a world-class university that is setting the standard in adult education.

With appreciation and gratitude,

Lynda C. Jackson
