2007/2008 Faculty/Staff Campaign
Faculty/Staff Campaign - Testimonials
"I wanted to make a lasting gift to UMUC, so I endowed a scholarship, named for my Aunt Mattie, who inspired my love of languages, grammar, and literature; and for my parents. The Eiker-Foote Scholarship is intended for students from Washington, D.C. and Prince George’s County, preferably majoring in English. I am proud that the first scholarship award will be made in the spring of 2008.”

"I support the Faculty/Staff Campaign because it provides me another opportunity to share a sense that something good will occur when the funds are used to assist our students. For me this Campaign is not just the tax deduction that could be obtained from the donation, it truly gives me a sense of philanthropy, if even on a small scale. Philanthropy occurs when the donor believes that the decision to give is justified, and I believe the Faculty/Staff Campaign provides for a just cause!”

"After arriving at UMUC, I had the opportunity to address our psychology students in our honors society. The question that kept surfacing focused on available funding for education within psychology. There is money out there, but there are a lot of people competing for what is available and, unfortunately, most of the money is to be used in graduate education. I felt it important that our psychology students have access to a source to help defray costs. That is what our scholarship was designed to provide.”

“Giving to the UMUC Faculty/Staff Campaign lets me show my gratitude and support for the men and women that serve in our military. I am very proud of my 18-year-old son, who is currently training with the Army Airborne Infantry, for making the choice to defend our country. Our troops risk their lives for our freedom in what is one of the lowest paid jobs in our nation—so these servicemembers and their families deserve the chance to get a higher education. I hope that others will also use the Faculty/Staff Campaign as an opportunity to support those who protect our country and our freedom.”
