UMUC's Dedication to Minority Scholarships
University of Maryland University College (UMUC) has a long history of providing minority students with access to higher education through on-site and online classes. In 2007, UMUC worldwide enrollment ranked second among four-year degree granting public institutions. In that same year, 31 percent of UMUC’s stateside students were African Americans, minority students comprised 42 percent of the total enrollment, and 30 percent of all degrees were awarded to African American students.
In conjunction with the Maryland Chamber of Commerce and the Governor's Office of Minority Affairs, UMUC proudly hosted the 2007 "Top 100 Minority Business Enterprise Awards" (MBEs). The ceremony showcased the achievements of minority and women entrepreneurs.
