About the Biotechnology Program
The biotechnology degree program offers specializations in Bioinformatics, Biotechnology Management, and Biosecurity and Biodefense. The degree requires completion of 36 credit hours of coursework.
In addition, it offers graduate certificates in Bioinformatics and Biotechnology Management, which requires completion of 15 credit hours of coursework.
The mission of the Biotechnology program at UMUC is to develop student entrepreneurs by providing each student with a thorough understanding of the scientific, management, and policy issues that are distinctive to the biotechnology industry.
This aim is accomplished by providing students with a rigorous program that is uniquely designed to integrate science, entrepreneurship, and technology. The courses are taught by distinguished faculty, most of whom are practitioners in the field. The program offers an intellectually vibrant atmosphere that encourages the development of innovative and critical thinking skills, teamwork, awareness, and respect for cultural and global diversity.
