Emergency Management

Welcome from Director

Stephen S. CarterWelcome to UMUC's undergraduate emergency management major. This public safety major is one of the three homeland security related majors developed in 2007 based on the needs of the discipline and employers.

Emergency Management focuses on developing leadership and administration in the preparation for, response to, recovery from, and mitigation of natural and man-made disasters. It uses the national standards and certification guidelines to insure a viable curriculum.

Students in this public safety program include both entry level individuals, individuals preparing for career change, and current practitioners of the disciplines seeking academic credentials. The Professors are current practitioners with on-going real life experience and credibility in the field as well as advanced academic degrees.

Please take an opportunity to review the content and please take the opportunity to contact me if you have questions about the program and the requirements.

Sincerely,

Stephen S. Carter
