Human Resource Management

Welcome from Director

Lisa MenesesYour interest in the Human Resource Management (HRMN) Undergraduate Program is welcomed and appreciated. As you plan the academic path to your career, consider the benefits of earning a degree in HRMN from UMUC.

This academic program provides 21st century knowledge of human resource functions in private- and public sector organizational settings. The program prepares you for work in business administration and various human resource work-related areas. In addition, the HRMN program is designed to assist you in preparing for the certification examinations offered by the Society of Human Resource Management (SHRM).

UMUC’s HRMN undergraduate program grew by 30% in its first five years as an independent major. We are pleased that UMUC has the first virtual SHRM chapter, which began in 2006. This chapter has both classroom and online students interacting in an online virtual club.

The HRMN undergraduate program is the largest in Maryland, with seventy percent of the faculty holding terminal degrees. A significant number of faculty are also SPHR certified. As you pursue your degree within the HRMN program, you will interact with HRMN faculty with an average of 33 years of experience in the human resource field.
