A Powerful Journey, from Slavery to Freedom
The Color in Freedom: Journey Along the Underground Railroad Educational Symposium and Gallery Tour with the Artist, and the art exhibit opening reception were held Saturday, November 1–Sunday, November 2, 2008.
The event was an overwhelming success, with attendees traveling from near and far to experience the powerful Color in Freedom journey for themselves.
Now you can experience the exhibit's 50 paintings, drawings, and etchings by renowned Maryland artist Joseph Holston through this Virtual Tour. The tour lets you explore a virtual gallery of Holston's striking and emotional works, which portray four stages of slavery: The Unknown World; Living in Bondage—Life on the Plantation; Journey of Escape; and Color in Freedom. The tour includes audio commentary about each piece as well as close-up views of the artwork.
