Graduate and Guests

The next stateside commencement weekend is May 15–17, 2015, in Adelphi, Maryland.

The doctoral commencement will be held the morning of Friday, May 15. All candidates for the Doctor of Management degree will participate in a combined hooding and conferral ceremony.

Each of our three weekend ceremonies will recognize bachelor's and master's degree graduates who completed their degree requirements in August and December 2014, winter 2015 MBA graduates, and bachelor's and master's candidates who have applied to receive their degrees in spring 2015.

Remember: Receiving your diploma is known as "graduation" at UMUC. You must apply to graduate before you are eligible to walk at Commencement 2015. If you haven't already, please check with your academic advisor about the graduation process to ensure you don't miss the application deadline.

After applying, you can check your graduation status by contacting the Graduation Certification Team at or 800-888-UMUC (8682), ext. 2-2299.

Eligible students (defined above) will be invited to RSVP for commencement using our online registration system in late February 2015. The Graduate School will communicate directly with candidates for the Doctor of Management degree. Bachelor's and master's degree graduates and candidates will receive an e-mail invitation to select one of the three weekend ceremonies to attend.

During the RSVP process, you will be able to

  • Let us know if you'll participate in commencement
  • Select a ceremony
  • Tell us about any special needs you or your guests have

After you RSVP, you'll receive a confirmation e-mail with important information, including how to purchase the required cap and gown for the ceremony and how to request e-tickets for your guests.
