UMUC Student Checklist

Regardless of whether you are new to college or transferring in credits, the following items should be completed within your first semester at UMUC. If you are beyond your first year at UMUC but have not completed all the items on the checklist, make sure you do so as soon as possible.

Submit official transcripts from all previously attended institutions. If you have less than 24 semester hours of transferable college credit, please send your official high school transcript or GED score report.

Contact Academic Advising at the division where you are enrolled to plan your program at UMUC and upcoming classes.  When speaking with an advisor, you should ask about your Degree Progress Report (DPR) and your program's requirements.

Familiarize yourself with MyUMUC, your student portal, so that you can regularly check outstanding documentation, your DPR, your registration, and other personal information.

If you have not already satisfied your introductory math and writing requirements, take placement tests and consult academic advising to help you register for classes. To prevent delays in your degree progress, your math and writing requirements should be completed during your first year at UMUC. See the links below for more information on placement tests, including testing locations:

Learn about Prior Learning options to see if the program is appropriate for you. If you are interested in the program, consult an advisor.
