EMPLOYERS gain
the fresh insights, talents and goal-oriented commitment
of mature students who are invested in achieving measurable
results. Because students are seeking 'upper level' professional
practice experiences, supervisors may delegate responsibilities
to co-op interns, who lighten the work load! While there
is no requirement to permanently hire UMUC co-op students,
the opportunity to evaluate performance during a 15-week
session provides a known, trained candidate who may fulfill
hiring standards. Students can perform part or full time
work, as they are able to leverage UMUC's flexible formats
for completing course work. Also, because UMUC's Co-op staff
provides pre-screening of candidates, employer recruitment
costs may be reduced. Co-op merges the best practices of
human resources development with organizational development
in the current knowledge economy. |
