What is Cooperative Education (Co-op)? Essentially, it is an opportunity for UMUC students to apply classroom theory to “real world” professional projects, and gain advanced academic credit. This is accomplished by developing a three-way learning agreement between a student, employer, and faculty. The collaborative Co-op process is designed in a way that offers mutual benefits for each participant, incorporating mutual accountability. Cooperative Education projects may be developed within most academic disciplines in the School of Undergraduate Studies at UMUC. Co-op project proposals may be based on part or full-time job situations, through work with federal, commercial, education, and/or non-profit organizations.
There are benefits for all participants!
