Cooperative Education

7. Co-op Information Session > Course Format

Three course formats are available for students to choose from

  • Classroom
  • WebTycho (online)
  • One-on-one format

Classroom
The classroom format meets 3-4 times during the 15 week session on the College Park campus on Saturday mornings. The class is ongoing. This allows new students to intermingle with experienced students giving you the opportunity to meet, network and learn from other Co-op students. Coursework is enhanced by classroom discussion and presentations.

WebTycho (online)
Co-ops offered via WebTycho are completely online and offer the advantage of being accessible to students anywhere, in any time zone. Additionally, students have the benefit of online forms and examples of work.

One-on-One
One-on-one Co-ops are conducted between one student and one faculty member. This format is good for students attending UMUC at distance. Students and faculty communicate via phone and e-mail.

Course Requirements - All Formats

The course requirements for each format are identical.

Each student completes

  • a Learning Contract to provide structure to the tasks and outcomes required for successful completion of the course.
  • Five additional assignments that provide for reflection and enhance career preparation are required for the course.

All assignments are graded and apply toward the final grade. A letter grade is awarded for successful completion of the Co-op course.
