Get Started and Register

Whether you're focused on advancing your career or continuing your education, UMUC offers the ideal program to help you reach your goal. There are just five steps to beginning your education at UMUC.

Step 1:

Complete the UMUC Application for Admission

Please remember to select AFCEA as your corporate sponsor on the application form.

Step 2:

Verify Your Membership to Receive the Tuition Discount

E-mail your membership ID number to cls@umuc.edu or fax it to 301-985-7514. If you did not select AFCEA on your application, please contact Corporate Learning Solutions atcls@umuc.edu or 1-855-CLS-5300 to make sure that you are coded as an AFCEA member.

Step 3:

Request Official Transcripts

Request your official transcripts from any previous institutions of higher education. All transcripts should be sent to admissions@umuc.edu or mailed to:

  • Undergraduate Students:

Note: Current UMUC students, or students with prior coursework taken at UMUC, do not need to submit UMUC transcripts.

Any student with foreign credentials must have the transcript evaluated by the international credential agency listed below. The agency is an independent company not affiliated with UMUC.

Step 4:

Register for Classes

Once you're admitted to UMUC, you will receive a student ID (EmplID) so you can register for courses online. Visit the current schedule of classes to view course(s), and then register for classes online in the MyUMUC Student Portal.

Step 5:

Purchase Course Textbooks and Materials

Order your materials online, in person or by phone.

*The tuition discount does not apply to the following programs: Cybersecurity Master's Degree, Cybersecurity Policy Graduate Certificate, Cybersecurity Policy Master's Degree, Cybersecurity Technology Graduate Certificate, Data Analytics Master's Degree, Digital Forensics and Cyber Investigation Master's Degree, Foundations in Business Analytics Graduate Certificate, Foundations of Cybersecurity Graduate Certificate, Information Assurance Graduate Certificate, and Master of Business Administration or doctoral programs. The tuition for students who meet the criteria for Maryland residency will be the applicable in-state rate. Tuition for active-duty military servicemembers, their spouses, and some dependent children will be the applicable military rate. If you are a veteran using Post-9/11 benefits, please contact a veterans admissions counselor at 800-939-UMUC to determine how this discount could impact your benefits.
