Department of Defense Directive 8570 (DoD 8570) requires all DoD workers who conduct information assurance (IA) functions to carry an approved certification specific to their job classification.
UMUC's undergraduate courses in the Computer Networks and Security program are designed to help prepare students for the following DoD 8570 certification exams:

Each course is eight weeks long and provides 3 credits. And with UMUC's flexible scheduling options—we offer four 8-week sessions each semester—you can enroll in a course at a time that is most convenient for you. Course descriptions are available in the Undergraduate Catalog.
Students who already hold the above DoD 8570 certifications may be able to satisfy certain program prerequisites and earn credit toward a UMUC degree. Documentation of the certification must be submitted within five years of taking the examination.
