University of Maryland University College offers more than 100 scholarships to help students like you achieve your educational goals. Scholarships are available to students based on merit and/or financial need. Award amounts vary by scholarship.
Follow These Steps to Apply for Scholarships
- Complete the FAFSA and verify your financial aid status: The Free Application for Federal Student Aid, known as the FAFSA, is required for most UMUC scholarships. After you are admitted to UMUC, verify your financial aid status in your student account.
- Wait for notification: If you meet UMUC's scholarship criteria, you will be notified of your scholarship eligibility in your online student account. You might even be eligible for more than one scholarship! Notifications usually go out in mid-summer. Please note that meeting minimum eligibility requirements does not guarantee that you will receive a UMUC scholarship.
- Apply for scholarships early: Scholarship awards are based on funding availability, so as soon as you're notified that you're eligible, fill out the universal scholarship application in your student account as soon as possible.
- Register for classes: The minimum enrollment requirement during the scholarship award period is 6 credits unless otherwise stated, so be sure to register for classes. UMUC scholarships are generally awarded for the fall and/or spring semesters only.
To be eligible for a scholarship as a graduate or undergraduate student, you must have a minimum GPA of 3.0. Graduate students must have completed 9 credits at UMUC, while undergraduates must have 15 completed.
