If you graduated in August or December or have applied for graduation and made sure that your student contact information is up-to-date, you will receive information about the May commencement ceremony at the beginning of the year. This information will give you instructions about how to indicate your intent to participate in the ceremony.
Commencement registration opens. Watch for an e-mail with instructions on how to register for the ceremony using UMUC's online commencement registration system. If you are an overseas student interested in participating in the stateside ceremony, please let your overseas division know or contact us at email@example.com.
To participate in the commencement ceremony, you must apply for graduation by the deadline. (If you graduated in August or December, you have already done so.)
Registration is vital if you plan to attend the Adelphi Commencement. In addition to registering to attend the ceremony, you may
- request an audition for Commencement student speaker or student singer
- review information on area lodging, including discounted rooms at UMUC's Marriott Inn and Conference Center
- indicate your attendance at the New Graduate Reception held the evening before commencement
- request your guest commencement tickets
- order your regalia online
If you live nearby, you are encouraged to attend the Commencement Fair, where you may order regalia, announcements, class rings, diploma frames, and other commencement memorabilia on-site. Personnel from UMUC's Alumni Association and several university offices will be on hand at this event to answer your questions and help you prepare for the big day.
This is a good time to review your preparations for commencement next month. Make sure you have ordered your regalia, sent out your announcements, and made any special arrangements, if needed.

To accommodate the large number of graduates, there will be three ceremonies (Saturday morning and afternoon and Sunday afternoon). You should have received your ceremony assignment soon after registering for commencement in late February, so please e-mail firstname.lastname@example.org if you are unsure of your assignment. All stateside commencement ceremonies will be held at the Comcast Center on the campus of University of Maryland, College Park. Get directions to the Comcast Center.
