University of Maryland University College provides a number of resources and tools to help students and faculty understand and uphold academic integrity standards.

UMUC Academic Policies

The UMUC Library

  • Citation Resources: Provides examples of citations in APA, MLA, and Chicago style formats.

For Students

  • Ask a Librarian: Students can seek one-on-one research assistance in a variety of formats.

For Faculty

  • Request a Librarian: Faculty members can arrange a face-to-face library instruction session (in the Washington, D.C., metropolitan area) or as part of online or hybrid classes (U.S., Asia, or Europe).

Effective Writing Center

Turnitin is a web-based service that can find and highlight matching or unoriginal text in a written assignment. It uses data-mining to compile a large database of electronic academic materials, which it indexes and stores. Faculty can submit their students' assignments to the Turnitin database or allow students to submit their own assignments to the service.
