About the Cyber Padawans
The UMUC Cyber Padawans—composed of students, alumni and faculty—study in a variety of cyber security and IT programs at UMUC.
To prepare for competitions, students practice in the university's advanced Virtual Security Lab, detecting and combating cyber attacks, and work through cyber security case studies in an online classroom.
Real-World Experience and Networking Opportunities
If you'd like to compete in forensics, penetration testing and computer network defense, consider becoming a member of UMUC's competition team.
The experiences you gain can help you advance your cyber security career by building in-demand skills, learning collaboratively with UMUC Cybersecurity students and faculty and networking with employers.
Promoting Cyber Security Education Through Competition
As part of our commitment to promote cyber education, UMUC has joined Northrop Grumman, SAIC and CIAS at the University of Texas-San Antonio to sponsor CyberPatriot, the nation's largest and fastest growing high school cyber defense competition.
"I wanted to work with really bright people who have a passion for cyber security like me—and I wanted to have some fun while doing it. I decided [the Cyber Padawans] are the best of the best—and I wanted to get to know those people."
