About Federal Student Aid
Federal student financial aid, available through the U.S. Department of Education, provides loans, grants, and scholarships to help cover your college expenses. Eligibility is based on financial need and other factors, including full-time or part-time status and academic progress.
Apply for Aid at UMUC
UMUC encourages you to apply for financial aid, regardless of your income. You may receive more than you expect! All the forms you need to apply for financial aid and for admission to UMUC are available online.
The FAFSA is Your First Step
Your first step in applying for aid is completing the Free Application for Federal Student Aid, known as the FAFSA. UMUC's school code is 011644. For priority consideration, your FAFSA must be received by the established priority deadlines:
- June 1 (for fall)
- November 1 (for spring)
- April 1 (for summer)
