There is an increasing awareness of the importance of trusted information sources and the competencies of those individuals entrusted with accounting and financial management responsibilities. One means of differentiating your abilities and awareness of ethical conduct in the primary and related areas of accounting and financial management is through the attainment of appropriate certifications. As UMUC accounting and/or financial management students, you are encouraged to plan for the future by identifying and earning the portfolio of certifications available to assist you in attaining your career and personal goals. 

Accredited Automated Clearing House Professional (AAP):
North American Clearing House Association (NACHA)

Recognizes professionals for their understanding and knowledge of the ACH network and the payments industry.

Accredited Valuation Analyst (AVA):
National Association of Valuation Analysts

Designation demonstrates the knowledge and understanding of a non-CPA to perform valuation services.

Certification in Control Self-Assessment (CCSA):
The Institute of Internal Auditors

Holders of designation have demonstrated proficiency with risk and control models.

Certified Bank Auditor (CBA):
Bank Administration Institute
