Brief Statement About Instructor

Dr. James Maxwell is a professor in the Industrial Technology department at Indiana State University, Terre Haute, Indiana. He holds a PhD in management from Webster University, St. Louis, Missouri, a MBA and BS in management from Maryville University, St. Louis, Missouri. He is currently completing a PhD technology management (ABD) at Indiana State University, Terre Haute, Indiana. His teaching, research, business management consultation, and publishing activities are in the areas of Strategic Management, Management of Technology, Human Resource Management, Operations Management, Entrepreneurship, and Competitive Intelligence. Dr. Maxwell has held various senior management and marketing positions with Toshiba and Emerson Electric Company. Dr. Maxwell is the editor–in–chief for the Academy of Technology Management Journal. He is a Kauffman Fellow and was awarded the Ewing Marion Kauffman Foundation Fellowship for his Doctoral Dissertation, the University of Wisconsin System Teaching Fellowship for 2000–2001(recognition for outstanding teaching), and Dr. Maxwell received the Society for Advancement of Management Outstanding Faculty Advisor for 2001, 2002 and 2003. He has written numerous articles in the area of entrepreneurship, strategic management, venture creation–valuation, and has published in a number of refereed journals and peer–reviewed proceedings.
