Brief Statement About Instructor

Dr. Forbes has a rich and multi-faceted background as vice president for Academic Affairs of Northcentral University, (a distance learning school), COO for MicroSeptic, Inc., director of engineering for Thomas Industries, European program manager for TRW Transportation Electronics Division (for crash detention sensors for vehicle air bag systems) and various aerospace R&D positions related to missile guidance, induced environments and orbital logistics. She has taught, both in the classroom and online, over 30 courses (Marketing, Economics, International Business, Organizational Development, Ethics, Strategic Planning, Leadership, Emerging Technologies, Knowledge Work, etc.)

Dr. Forbes has served as president of sections of both AIAA (American Institute of Aeronautics and Astronautics) and SWE (Society of Women Engineers), and as regional director, editorial board member, and currently national secretary for the latter. She was selected for the Outstanding Engineer Merit Award by the Orange County Engineering Council, and Distinguished Alumni by the School of Math, Science and Engineering of CSUF, Distinguished Service Award by SWE, Excellence in Teaching award from Regis University, and is an IAE (Institute for the Advancement of Engineering) Fellow. She is an active member of AAUW (American Association of University Women), Mensa, and the 99s (International Women Pilots Association), and is listed in Who’s Who Worldwide.

Dr. Forbes has spoken to students at many high schools, served as lecturer and panelist for colleges of engineering across the nation, as well as for NSF programs and the American Management Association. She has been on AAUW’s education council, and served as advisor for the UCLA and Embry-Riddle Aeronautic University SWE student sections.

She is a veteran (USN), a private pilot, and aircraft owner. She is married and has three children and six grandchildren.
