AMBA 605 Economics of Management Decisions

Brief Statement About Instructor

Rathin S. Rathinasamy is currently employed as professor of Finance in a regional university in the Midwest. His responsibilities include teaching graduate and undergraduate courses in corporate finance, international finance, investments, portfolio theory and international business, engaging in scholarly research and service to the university. In the past, he has taught in the states of Minnesota, New Jersey and Michigan. He received his PhD and MBA in finance in 1987 with minors in economics and statistics from the University of Tennessee, Knoxville, TN. He has received several grants and awards including the 1994 prestigious Fulbright Research award when he visited the Indian Institute of Management, Bangalore, India. Recently, he was on a sabbatical teaching assignment at the United Arab Emirates (UAE) University, Al Ain, UAE. He has published several refereed finance articles that have appeared in the Financial Review, Journal of Applied Business Research, Journal of International Financial Markets, Institutions and Money, Journal of Economics and Finance, Journal of Financial and Strategic Decisions, Journal of International Finance, Finance India, Global Finance and Economic Review, Journal of Corporate Accounting and Finance and Journal of Business and Economics Research. He is a member of Financial Management Association (FMA), American Finance Association (AFA), Mid-west Finance Association, and the honor societies of Beta Gamma Sigma, and Phi Kappa Phi. His current research interests include wealth effects of mergers and restructurings, Real Estate Investments Trusts (REITs), dollar cycles and the macro-economic variables.
