Master of Business Administration

Graduate School of Management and Technology

Program Overview

UMUC's Master of Business Administration (MBA) program is offered in both an online and combination online/on-site hybrid format for working professionals. The flexibility allows you to complete the program in 24 months without interrupting your career.

The objectives of the program are to

  • explore the evolving nature of corporations
  • blend leadership with change management
  • better measure an organization’s intellectual assets
  • merge product development with entrepreneurship, and
  • foster new approaches to measuring the economic performance of organizations

Organizational and management processes are discussed in the context of the global business environment. The MBA program addresses the major competitive challenges of the 21st century by combining current management theory and relevant research integrated with the real world experiences of students and faculty.

The MBA program consists of one 3-credit prerequisite course and seven 6-credit seminars, each of which is 10 weeks long with three weeks off between seminars. The 3-credit prerequisite course may be waived if the applicant has scored at least 600 on the GMAT or has already completed a graduate degree. Each student is assigned to a cohort of approximately 25 students that continue together through completion of their MBA program.

The MBA is offered entirely through online study and in a combination format that mixes online and classroom study. Students with more than five years of managerial experience may also earn the MBA through an accelerated Executive Master of Business Administration program. Students should check the current Graduate Schedule of Classes to determine when courses will be offered at specific locations.
