MBA Program Wins Sloan Award
Welcome from the Associate Chair

Welcome to UMUC's outstanding MBA program. The program is a unique award-winning program that delivers the highest quality business education in both online and on-site formats. We offer an outstanding faculty, a student-centered approach, and highly relevant and challenging courses for the working adult.
In teaching these courses, our faculty of scholars and practitioners bring years of both academic and practical experience to the classroom for the benefit of our students. Many of our faculty are industry experts and all of them are highly engaged in the classroom, providing a high level of feedback to the students. In addition, our students have the support of a student assistant who can provide additional assistance on a broad variety of issues.
The MBA program is a cohort program, which means that the students in a particular class stay together for the duration of the program. This allows us to integrate the curriculum across the seven seminars. Our courses cover the full range of subject expertise essential to the success of a senior manager in today's corporation. We are also proud to call ourselves a competency-based program, where our students master the following ten key competencies: information literacy and research skills, technology fluency, systems thinking, critical thinking, decision making, diversity/cross cultural awareness, communication skills, team-building skills, executing decisions and ethical leadership.
In 2005, the MBA program was named the "2005 Most Outstanding Online Teaching and Learning Program" by the Sloan Consortium, a national consortium of institutions and organizations committed to quality online education. This organization recognized what many of our graduates have seen and that is the effectiveness of the program in delivering relevant and high quality education to our career-focused students.
Thank you for your interest and please accept my best wishes for success in the MBA program.
Sincerely,
Robert C. Goodwin
