Classroom Quality
Quality Assurance
CSI is committed to quality assurance in online classrooms. To this end, the staff employs a Class Visit process that is approved by the Deans and Program or Academic Directors. CSI staff use proprietary tools and manual inspection to ensure that online classrooms are ready for students at the start of each semester. Directors can request certain classes to receive a second (mid-semester) classroom visit to further ensure quality. CSI also assists and supports faculty with the setup and management of model and faculty classrooms as well as changes that occur in WebTycho.
Course Quality Review
CSI has initiated a pilot program that measures classroom quality. The Course Quality Review (CQR) process verifies the quality of course design and provides feedback to the instructor and/or course developer. The CQR team of Quality Matters™ trained CSI staff utilizes an extensive rubric as well as UMUC-specific materials to review the components of online courses and prepares detailed, targeted quality improvement recommendations. The review team is also available to assist the instructor and/or course developer in implementing those recommendations.
