Maryland Distance Learning Association (MDLA) Nomination Announcement of Awards

We are proud to announce that the UMUC MBA Program has won the award as the Distance Program of the Year for 2009 from the Maryland Distance Learning Association (MDLA).   The Program will be honored at an award ceremony on March 5, 2009. 

The nomination for the award highlighted the UMUC MBA Program’s design and delivery, with its integrated nature and focus on competencies.  As was stated by one of the faculty members in her letter endorsing the nomination: “Designed from the beginning as a 100 percent online program, one of the several factors that distinguish this MBA from others is the fact that it is informed by a carefully crafted shared vision of what graduates should know and be able to do in the workplace. Full time program directors work with adjuncts, students, alumni, and advisory board members to continuously review and refine this vision.”

In 2005, the MBA Program had previously been named “the Most Outstanding Online Teaching and Learning Program” by the Sloan Consortium, a national consortium of institutions and organizations committed to quality online education.  The new award from the MDLA has confirmed the continuing commitment to excellence of the dedicated faculty and administrators in the MBA Program.
