Sexual Harassment Prevention Training
A message from the Office of Diversity Initiatives:
UMUC is committed to maintaining a fair and respectful environment for work and study. Sexual harassment is a barrier to the achievement of the universitys mission. Sexual harassment of staff, faculty, or students is unacceptable conduct and will not be tolerated.
Sexual harassment has been a serious workplace issue for many years. Several high-profile cases in the courts have held employers liable for the actions of employees. The courts have ruled that sexual harassment is a form of discrimination under the Civil Rights Law of 1964. This liability puts the burden of preventing sexual harassment and training employees on employers.
The UMUC Office of Diversity Initiatives is providing "Preventing Sexual Harassment" training online. This will enable all members of our global community to better understand what constitutes sexual harassmentwhat is and what is not acceptable behavior in today's work environment.
All faculty and staff who did not participate in "Preventing Sexual Harassment" training between January 2001 and January 2002 are required to complete the online training. The course is now available on the universitys Web site at http://training.newmedialearning.com/psh/umuc/.
