Online Workshops—Fall 2009
Workshops are free and open to all UMUC faculty members. Faculty members will receive an e-mail confirmation of their enrollment into workshops at least one week prior to each workshop. Those who register for online workshops will also receive information on how to log on and access the workshop.
Workshop participants will receive a certificate of completion following each workshop. Participants will receive a certificate if they participate in at least 75 percent of the scheduled workshop activities and complete a final deliverable.
Register for our current workshops below. Workshops fill quickly. If you must cancel your registration, please call CTL at 240-582-2770 or e-mail ctla@polaris.umuc.edu at least three days prior to the start of the workshop so that we can release your seat to other faculty on our waiting list.

CTL Faculty Development Workshop Certificate Program
The Center for Teaching and Learning (CTL) launched our Workshop Certificate Program (WCP) in March 2006. The WCP is intended to assist faculty in planning a well-articulated, systematized path for faculty development. Faculty development workshops are included in the category of "workshops" mentioned in the Faculty Promotion Policy 181.4A under the Professional Activity criterion.
Types of Certificates
There are two certificates available—the Basic and the Advanced. The award of the Basic Certificate provides evidence that faculty have attained a basic set of essential skills and knowledge needed for teaching at UMUC. The award of the Advanced Certificate is intended to demonstrate additional breadth and depth in subjects critical to successful teaching and learning.
Please note: The WCP, like all CTL programs, is completely free of charge to all UMUC faculty. CEUs are a separate option and the UMUC Registrar requires a small certificate fee. More about WCP
Continuing Education Units for CTL Online Faculty Development Workshops
Selected online faculty development workshops from the Center for Teaching and Learning are now eligible for Continuing Education Units (CEU). Online workshops that are eight days long are worth 1 CEU and workshops that are 12 – 14 days long are worth 2 CEUs. Eligible workshops are clearly identified on the CTL workshop Web site.
