About the Center for the Virtual University

The Center for the Virtual University evaluates new pedagogical approaches for Web-based courses. Specialists in educational theory, media production, and online instruction work with faculty to create multimedia components of online courses and to assess their instructional effectiveness. The center collaborates with the Center for Teaching and Learning to create online resources and training for faculty engaged in Web-enabled instruction. A recent collaboration was the UMUC-Verizon Virtual Resource Site. The center also tracks the growth and change in distance education programs and practices and works with the academic units to develop resources for online teaching and learning.

To contact the center regarding any of its programs, send e-mail to cvu@umuc.edu or call 301-985-7602.
