accounting information. Each program covers an aspect of accounting relevant to managerial
decision making in real-world business situations. In a final segment, business ethicist
Dr. Joanne Ciulla speaks about ethical issues managers have encountered that are related
to the program topic. |

This is a series of illustrated lectures by accounting faculty on basic cost accounting
principles and procedures. Emphasis is on the role of the accountant in organizational
management and in the analysis of critical accounting data. |

Language
Smile When you Say That!
This award-winning, 30-minute program helps Spanish students improve their
pronunciation. Dr. Lucinda Hart-González, director of English, Humanities, and Modern
Languages at UMUC, developed strategies and practice exercises for the video program. |

Communication
Language and Cooperation
This one-hour program is designed to improve listening skills and awareness of
different communication styles. It explains aspects of social communication with examples
of group interactions. Observational exercises become more complex as the viewer becomes
more familiar with characteristics of speech. |

EXCEL: The Prior Learning Experience
This is a 30-minute video orientation to UMUCs Prior Learning program. Prior
Learning provides students with the opportunity to obtain college credit for learning they
have received from work, community involvement, hobbies, or other life experiences. |
