Heritage Month-February
African American Heritage Month - February 2008 |
2008 Theme: The Origins of Multiculturalism
Celebrate the origins of multiculturalism in America with African American Heritage Month. One notable pioneer of multiculturalism is Dr. Carter G. Woodson, founder of African American Heritage Month, and considered by many to be the first scholar to popularize the value of understanding black history. He recognized the significance of people sharing knowledge and awareness of their culture's contributions to society.
