National Poetry Month - Poem In Your Pocket Day!
Thursday, April 17, 2008
Time: 12pm - 1pm
Location: ICC 1301(New Hotel Bldg)
Join other poetry lovers at this special lunchtime event in recognition of National Poetry Month and “Poetry in your Pocket Day.” The idea behind this low-key and fun activity is simple. Before coming to our noon event, print out a copy of a favorite poem—your own, if you like, or another poet’s—and put it in your pocket. We will have a ritual unfolding, followed by shared readings in a relaxed and informal setting. Our UMUC event will be shared with The Academy American of Poets and will become part of a nationwide celebration of the power of language! All UMUC staff, faculty, and students are welcome to attend.
