Department of Education Programs
Three Master Degree Programs (MAT, MEd, MDE) – all online.
The department has three master’s degree programs currently, two of which (Master of Arts in Teaching and MEd in Instructional Technology) constitute, for NCATE purposes, the professional education unit because they prepare professional educators for roles in K-12 schools.
The third program, the Master of Distance Education and E-Learning is aimed at professionals seeking to develop knowledge and skills related to management and training, does not have as its purpose the preparation of K-12 educators.
The department also has a variety of certificate programs, as well as six three-credit, Maryland State Department of Education (MSDE)-approved reading courses for teachers needing to meet Maryland reading requirements. A recent addition to the Department is the new Center for Intellectual Property Certificate (CIPC) program.
