Beginning with the Spring, 1999 semester, UMUC students may receive a free face-to-face writing tutorial at the UMCP Writing Center. The Writing Center's new quarters are in Taliaferro Hall, Room 0125. Services are provided during daytime hours (Monday through Thursday from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. and Friday from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m.) and Tuesday and Wednesday evenings from 5 to 7 p.m. Writing Center tutors are trained to help you clarify an assignment, explore ideas and topics, plan and organize a paper, determine strategies for revision, and correct recurring grammatical problems. You might want to use the Writing Center's computer lab to prepare papers or to work on improving writing problems. The number to call for tutorial appointments at 301-405-3785. The Writing Center also has a Grammar Hotline for quick answers to questions about word choice, punctuation, sentence structure, or proper citation. The number to call for this assistance is 301-405-3787. |
