Autobiography

I earned a Ph.D. Engineering Science (Geological) from the University of Mississippi. Prior to that, I earned a M.S. in geological oceanography from the Institute of Oceanography of the Old Dominion University. I have a BS from the University of Maryland College Park. As UMUC adjunct professor, I teach Physical Geology (Geology 100), Life in the Ocean (Biology 181), Astronomy (Astr 100), Meteorology (NSCI 170 & 171)and Environmental Change & Sustainability (NSCI362). I also teach with the Johns Hopkins (JHU) Environmental Science and Policy graduate program in D.C. and the Northern Virginia Community College (NVCC). With JHU, I teach "Coastal Geology and Policy", "Geology for Environmental Scientists" and "Independent Topics". With NVCC, I have taught physical geology, historical geology, and oceanography. I have over thirty years professional experience with Federal Government most with Department of the Interior. My areas of professional focus are coastal & shelf sediment including heavy mineral placers, and coastal-nearshore engineering. My wife and I live in northern Virginia but frequent our house near Point Lookout, MD. We have 3 grown sons and two dogs.
