Information and Library Services

As a UMUC faculty member, you have access to a wide variety of library resources, including over 140 academic, proprietary databases through the Information and Library Services (ILS) Web page and access to books through the library catalog of the University System of Maryland and affiliated institutions (USMAI). You are also eligible for a number of services. Information and Library Services will obtain additional resources you may need, put materials on e-reserve in your classroom, and provide library instruction for your classes, assistance with plagiarism concerns, and 24/7 reference service. See the ILS faculty services page for further details.

Faculty are issued an ID card with a barcode every 2 years. You can use the barcode, which is printed on your identification (ID) card, to access the library databases, request books through the catalog and ask for library services. However, you will need to show your identification card to check out books and other materials at libraries of the University System of Maryland and affiliated institutions. Please note that library resources and services are only available to faculty in the semesters in which they are teaching.

If you forget your library bar code, you can find it in MyUMUC under MyInfo > Library Services > Library Bar Code. If you lose your card, you can request a replacement on the same webpage.

If you have not received your ID card, or have additional questions, please contact Faculty Services, 240-582-2605.
