Apply for the Maryland Community College Transfer Scholarship
Do you have your associate's degree, but need funds to embark on your bachelor's? We're accepting scholarship applications now for the Fall 2008 semester. Don't wait—apply today. Scholarships are awarded on a first-come, first-served basis. Recipients will also be invited to our Annual Scholarship Dinner. To get started, please view the Application Criteria below.
Maryland Community College Transfer Scholarship
UMUC offers transfer scholarships to outstanding graduates of participating Maryland community colleges. Recipients may be awarded $3,300/year for full-time study or $1,650/year for part-time study. This scholarship is for the Fall 2007 to Spring 2008 academic year. We will be offering a spring award for the 2008-2009 school year. What Are the Application Criteria?

An associate's degree earned by the beginning of the fall semester.

Minimum cumulative 3.0 GPA from one of the participating community colleges

Submission of the UMUC Alliance or regular admission application, FAFSA application and scholarship application

Must be US Citizen or eligible non-citizen

Applicants cannot receive tuition remission from the University System of Maryland

Alliance students who participated in dual enrollment before earning their associate’s degree are still eligible for the Maryland Community College Transfer Scholarship.
- Please note, if you are receiving 100% employer tuition assistance or a Golden ID student, you will not be eligible for the scholarship.
What Is the Application Deadline?
The priority deadline for the fall 2008 term is June 1, 2008. Applications will continue to be accepted after the priority deadline as long as funds remain available.
How Do I Apply?

Complete admission application through MyUMUC or the Alliance admission application www.umuc.edu/alliances. Please allow up to 48 hours for your application to be processed.

Complete the FAFSA application. The UMUC FAFSA Code is 011644. Please allow 7 days for your FAFSA to be processed.

Complete the 2008-2009 scholarship application.

Send all official transcripts from previous colleges attended. Official transcripts are sealed transcripts sent by the institution.

Submit the scholarship application and official transcripts to:

A complete packet consists of proof of submission of the admission application and FASFA, the scholarship application, and official copies of transcripts from previous colleges attended.

All incomplete applications will not be processed.
When Am I Notified of the Scholarship Award Decision?
Students who submit complete scholarship packets will be awarded immediately. Scholarship awards will post to students account 10 days before the start of the semester. If you are registered for Term II or mid-fall/spring classes, your award will post 10 days before the start of the class.
Is the Scholarship Renewable?
Yes. Full-time recipients may renew their awards for one year and part-time recipients may renew their awards for three years based on completion of all scholarship guidelines and criteria:

Maintain 3.0 GPA

Complete updated (FAFSA may be updated starting January 1 of each year)

Full-time recipients must enroll in at least 12 UMUC credit hours each Fall and Spring semesters and earn at least 30 credit hours per academic year.

Part-time recipients must enroll in at least 6 UMUC credit hours each Fall and Spring semesters and earn at least 15 credit hours per academic year.

Awards will post to a students account 10 days before the start of the semester.

Students do NOT need to submit a scholarship application for renewal.
