Most of the scholarships listed below are renewable. Renewable scholarships are those that allow recipients to remain eligible for aid under the same program for more than one year. To be considered for renewal, you must reapply each year. Renewal awards are not guaranteed. You may receive one UMUC scholarship or grant award per academic year.

  • Albert L. Emmel Memorial Scholarship
    • Demonstrated financial need
    • Minimum GPA of 3.0
  • Alumni and Friends Scholarship
    • Completion of 15 credits of undergraduate coursework (at UMUC or accepted in transfer from a community college) or 9 credits of graduate coursework (at UMUC)
    • Minimum GPA of 3.0
    • Demonstrated financial need
  • Alumni Association Scholarship
    • Completion of 15 credits of undergraduate coursework or 9 credits of graduate coursework at UMUC
    • Minimum GPA of 3.0
    • Demonstrated financial need
    • Preference given to underserved populations and single parents
  • Alumni Scholarship
    • Completion of 15 credits of undergraduate coursework (at UMUC or accepted in transfer from a community college) or 9 credits of graduate coursework (at UMUC)

  • Annual Fund Scholarship
    • Completion of 15 undergraduate credits or 9 graduate credits at UMUC
    • Minimum GPA of 3.0 at UMUC

  • Dr. Evelyn J. Bata Scholarship for Educational Excellence
    • Completion of 15 credits of undergraduate coursework or 9 credits of graduate coursework at UMUC
    • Minimum GPA of 3.0

  • Laslo and Patti Boyd Scholarship
    • Completion of 6 undergraduate credits or 6 graduate credits at UMUC
    • Preference given to students studying Government and Politics
    • Minimum GPA of 3.0
    • Demonstrated financial need
  • The J.F. Durkee Memorial Scholarship
    • Female students seeking degrees in either undergraduate technical management or graduate telecommunications
    • Completion of 6 undergraduate credits or 6 graduate credits at UMUC
    • Demonstrated financial need
    • Minimum GPA of 3.0
  • Eiker Foote and Foote Memorial Scholarship
    • Resides in DC or PG County, MD, or graduated from H.S. in either jurisidiction
    • Minimum GPA of 3.25
    • Preference for students specializing in English or literature
  • Sorrell Ross Bollet Scholarship Fund
    • Completion of 15 credits of undergraduate coursework (at UMUC or accepted in transfer from a community college) or 9 credits of graduate coursework (at UMUC)
    • Minimum GPA of 3.0
    • Demonstrated financial need
  • Lyn and Barry Chasen Scholarship
    • Completion of 60 credits toward bachelor’s degree (for undergraduate applicants)

    • Enrollment for 6 credits during the award period

  • Bill G. and Helen R. Evans Scholarship
    • Completion of 15 credits of undergraduate coursework (at UMUC or accepted in transfer from a community college) or 9 credits of graduate coursework (at UMUC)
    • Minimum GPA of 3.75 at UMUC (or at a community college for undergraduate applicants)
    • Demonstrated financial need
  • Excellence in Technology– Shady Grove Scholarship
    • Completion of 6 undergraduate or graduate credits at UMUC
    • Minimum GPA of 3.0 at UMUC
    • Resident of Montgomery County
    • Must be enrolled in an on-site course at Shady Grove
    • Demonstrated financial need
    • Must be enrolled at Shady Grove site during Term Scholarship Awarded
  • President Gerald A. Heeger Tribute Scholarship
    • Active duty military students, guard or reservists, or their immediate family members
    • Preference given to those that were awarded the Purple Heart since August 1, 2000
    • Have recently served as a member of the active duty military and are making the transition into civilian life
    • Completion of 12 college credits
    • Demonstrated financial need
    • Minimum GPA of 3.0
  • Household International Military Family Scholarship
    • Completion of 6 credits at UMUC
    • Minimum GPA of 2.5 at UMUC
    • Active-duty military or spouse of active-duty military
    • Tuition assistance exhausted

  • Marriott Foundation Scholarship
    • Completion of 6 credits at UMUC
    • Minimum GPA of 3.0 at UMUC
  • Maryland Higher Education Commission (MHEC)
    • There are a variety of scholarship opportunities for undergraduate and graduate students through MHEC.
  • Military Student Support Fund Scholarship
    • Active-duty military servicemember
    • Completion of 6 credits at UMUC
    • Minimum GPA of 3.0 at UMUC
    • Demonstrated financial need
  • The Millennial Scholarship Endowed Fund
    • Completion of at least 6 credits at UMUC
    • Minimum GPA of 3.0 at UMUC
    • Demonstrated financial need
  • Clarence M. Mitchell Jr. Scholarship
    • Minimum GPA of 3.0 from UMUC or transfer institution
    • Demonstrated financial need
    • Member of an underserved population
  • Charlotte W. Newcombe Foundation Scholarship
    • Awarded by the University System of Maryland
    • Mature woman (over 25 years old) in career transition
    • Minimum GPA of 3.0 at UMUC
    • Completion of at least half of courses toward degree; at least 6 credits earned at UMUC
    • Demonstrated financial need
  • Peck Family Scholarship
    • Female students with children
    • Completion of 15 credits of undergraduate coursework or 9 credits of graduate coursework at UMUC
    • Minimum GPA of 3.0 at UMUC
    • Demonstrated financial need
  • Plastical Industries Endowed Scholarship
    • Completion of 15 credits of undergraduate coursework or 9 credits of graduate coursework at UMUC
    • Minimum GPA of 3.0 at UMUC

  • UMUC Adjunct Faculty Scholarship
    • Available to faculty who have taught at least 30 credit hours at UMUC
    • Primary relationship with UMUC must be as an adjunct faculty member

    • Completion of 15 undergraduate credits or 9 graduate credits at UMUC
    • Minimum GPA of 3.0

  • UMUC President’s Scholarship
    • Completion of 15 credits of undergraduate coursework (at UMUC or accepted in transfer from a community college) or 9 credits of graduate coursework (at UMUC)
    • Minimum GPA of 3.75 at UMUC (or at a community college, for undergraduate applicants)
  • Vietnam Veterans Memorial Scholarship
    • Child of a Vietnam-era veteran, or the spouse of such a child currently on active-duty military service
    • Minimum GPA of 3.0

In addition to the aforementioned scholarships, UMUC offers a number of President's Grants through a need-based grant program that provides up to $1,000 per year for eligible undergraduate students and up to $1,200 per year for eligible graduate students.
