Robert Beauchamp, director of the Environmental Management Program, Graduate School, co-published two papers with E. Kudjo Dzantor, of the University of Maryland, College Park, in the June 2002 issue of the peer-reviewed journal Environmental Practice. The articles are entitled "Phytoremediation, Part I: Fundamental Basis for the Use of Plants in Remediation of Organic and Metal Contamination," and "Phytoremediation, Part II: Management Considerations."

Kathleen W. Sander, adjunct associate professor, School of Undergraduate Studies, had an article entitled, "The Unknown Gertrude" (about Gertrude Stein's three and one-half year sojourn at the Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine), published in the Spring/Summer 2002 issue of Hopkins Medical News.

James Golden, School of Undergraduate Studies; Andrea Martino, Public Relations; Mark Parker, Provost's Office; and Rob Sapp, Learning Applications Development and Support (LeADS) Program, delivered a presentation on UMUC's expertise in online education to members of the Capital PC Users Group (CPCUG) in Springfield, Virginia, August 13, 2002. CPCUG is the largest group of its kind in the Washington, D.C., metropolitan area. Virginia Tech also presented to the group. All four UMUC presenters were members of the University's new Speakers Bureau.
