Another Record Year for the Angel Tree Program

2004 was another record-breaking year for the Angel Tree Program at UMUC, with University employees sending gifts to 375 children—75 more than last year and, once again, the most of any participating institution in Prince George’s County.

The Angel Tree Program, administered by the Salvation Army, collects gifts from donors and then matches those gifts with needy children. Each “angel” comes complete with statistics that match those of one needy child—including age, sex, clothing and shoe size—and includes a wish list from the child.

Pat Musick, an administrative assistant in UMUC’s Graduate School of Management and Technology who has helped spearhead the campaign since 1996, received a 2004 University System of Maryland Regents University System Staff Award for extraordinary public service in recognition of her work coordinating the Angel Tree Program at UMUC. Musick is the first UMUC employee to receive such an award.
