The History of France, by W. Scott Haine, has been called "the most up-to-date, concise, yet comprehensive narrative history of France, current through the end of 1999."

Haine is an adjunct professor of history for UMUC's online programs. His specialization is French popular culture. Here is an excert from a review of his book:
