Tana Bishop, associate dean for administration, Graduate School, and Claudine SchWeber, associate vice president, Office of Distance Education and Lifelong Learning, authored the article "Linking Quality and Cost" in the book Elements of Quality Online Education, Vol. 3, published by the Sloan Consortium. The book is an edited volume of solicited papers from a workshop held last fall in Lake George, New York, and includes information on learning effectiveness, cost effectiveness, student satisfaction, and faculty satisfaction in online learning. A panel of UMUC experts, including Christina Hannah, dean, Graduate School; Theodore Stone, assistant vice president and director, Center for the Virtual University; and Eugene Rubin, chair, Master's in Distance Education program, Graduate School discussed the University's educational technology leadership at the European Union–U.S. conference on education and technology at UMUC May 31, 2002.
