The National Leadership Institute (NLI) is launching an Online Leadership Assessment Program for busy managers and executives who are unable to participate in NLI's leadership programs on site. The innovative program, to debut next month, offers thousands more participants the opportunity to gain a better understanding of themselves and their leadership styles.

The new program is comprised of three phases: assessment, online class sessions, and personalized coaching.

During the assessment phase, participants take four leadership questionnaires online: the Myers Briggs Type Indicator® (MBTI®) and the Fundamental Interpersonal Relationship Orientation-Behavior™ (FIRO-B)™. Both are designed to aid participants in discovering their personal style and how they lead or manage others. The other two tests, the Emotional Competence Inventory (ECI) and the Leadership Effectiveness Analysis™ (LEA), are known as "360 degree" instruments and provide the participant with feedback on their leadership behaviors and perspectives, as reported by bosses, peers, and direct reports.

Interpretation and explanation of the assessments are provided in an online classroom and are moderated by faculty with expertise in executive development and specialized training in online instruction. Participants will explore the meaning of their assessment results and how learn how they apply to leadership situations and work experiences.

The final stage is a highly personalized two-hour telephone session with an NLI executive coach. During this time participants' questions are clarified, and all data is integrated into a leadership profile that will help identify both leadership strengths and development areas.

"To my knowledge, this is the only program of its kind that is being offered," says Carol Dell'Amore, NLI director. "The combination of the four assessments provides managers a unique opportunity to receive powerful insights about their effectiveness as leaders of their organizations. Having the program online is especially invaluable for busy managers interested in advancing their personal and organizational success."

NLI offers a number of leadership programs for all levels of managers. The programs are enhanced by their 20-year affiliation with the Center for Creative Leadership in Greensboro, N.C.
