Kudos Kimberly Bonner, director of UMUC's Center for Intellectual Property, spoke about online education and UMUC to visitors at Technology Empowerment Day, held at the Metropolitan Baptist Church, Washington, D.C., on February 16, 2002. Also, Theresa Marron-Grodsky, associate chair of management programs, Graduate School, talked about UMUC and how it has evolved at the Berwyn District Civic Association in College Park, Maryland, on February 21, 2002. Dawn Mosisa, associate vice president for Financial Aid, participated as a financial aid specialist for College Goal Sunday, which was held at several locations in Maryland on February 10, 2002. In Montgomery County, where she volunteered, more than 200 high school seniors were assisted in completing their FAFSA forms. In November 2001, Mosisa participated in the Maryland Association of Financial Aid Administrators Financial Aid Phon-a-thon that aired on public access television. Coincidentally, she got to field many calls from working adults who were unsure whether they could manage to pursue their education while balancing family and job responsibilities. Judy Rowe, an alumna who earned an undergraduate degree in psychology at UMUC, had the narrative she wrote about her online studies at UMUC accepted as one of only four to be included in in the book, entitled You Can Learn Online, to be published by McGraw Hill. The authors, Kathryn Winograd and Gary Moore, also wrote You Can Teach Online. |
