| Kudos Carol Dell’Amore, executive director of UMUC’s National Leadership Institute, gave the keynote presentation, “Developing Higher Education Leaders,” at the Maryland Higher Education Association Conference, October 22, 2004, at Bowie State University. Andrea Martino, public relations director and a member of the UMUC’s speakers bureau, was a guest lecturer on “Writing for Managers in Academia,” for two UMUC communications classes, October 20 and 21, 2004. Cynthia Munshell, who teaches psychology for UMUC; Matthew Prineas, who teaches English; James Robertson, who teaches in the computer and information science program; and Kathleen Warner, who teaches biology, have recently been certified as FIPSE Quality Matters Peer Course Reviewers. The Quality Matters project was awarded to MarylandOnline by the U.S. Department of Education Fund for the Improvement of Postsecondary Education (FIPSE). The Quality Matters project is developing a pathway for inter-institutional continuous quality assurance and improvement of online courses. Chris Sax, collegiate professor of biology and assistant dean of social, behavioral, natural, and mathematical sciences, gave a presentation entitled, “Distributed Leadership: An Unintended Consequence,” at the Maryland Association for Higher Education fall 2004 conference in Bowie, Maryland, on October 22, 2004. Vincent Conti, senior vice president and chief operating officer, served on a panel, Trends in Higher Education, during the National Federation of Municipal Analysts (NMFA) conference in Washington, D.C., on October 21, 2003. NMFA works to promote professionalism in municipal credit analysis and to further the skill level of its members through educational programs and industry communication. |
