Purchasing Course Materials

Announcement

As of May 1, 2009, MBS offers discounts on bundled book packages for select courses.

As of February 1, 2008, University Book Center no longer stocks course materials for UMUC online classes. As always, students may order their books for online and classroom-based courses at the official online bookstore for UMUC, MBS Direct.

Materials for online classes will be available in limited quantities in the Atrium of the Stamp Student Union Building on the College Park campus. Given the limited availability, this should not be used as a reliable method for obtaining your course materials.

 

Ordering Your Course Materials Online

In conjunction with MBS Direct, UMUC offers convenient online and mail-order shopping for required textbooks and software for online and on-site courses.

MBS guarantees availability of new and used inventory, shopping discounts for online orders, no sales tax, and an easy return and buyback program.

Orders are shipped via UPS within 24 hours of receipt, Monday-Friday. Overnight and two-day delivery is available for an additional fee. Payment by personal check, MasterCard, Visa, American Express and Discover is accepted. Some employer contracts may be accepted.

Required Course Materials


To find out which books and materials you will need for each course, you can:
  1. Look up your class in the Online Schedule of Classes and select the "Books" link;

    -or-

  2. Log in to MyUMUC to access the Order Class Materials link via the MyAcademics tab.

Under Order Class Materials in MyUMUC: A screen with your courses will appear, along with instructions on how to order your books.

Purchasing Course Materials In Person

University Book Center/Barnes & Noble offers purchase of most required textbooks and software online and via mail, phone, and fax, as well as well as at their College Park, MD store, for UMUC classes held on the College Park campus.*

Walk-in students should inquire at the Customer Service Desk to obtain textbooks for courses. Most major credit cards and some employer-provided assistance documents are accepted.
